HGM Three Ring roller mill and YGM Raymond mill are two commonly used equipment for grinding stone powder in the mining industry. They are both vertical mills. From the appearance, they are not very different. So users who want to buy a grinding mill will ask, what's the difference between these two models? Which one should I buy? Let’s analyze it from structure, applied material, production capacity.

1. The structures of HGM ring roller mill and Raymond mill are different.

The difference in structure between ring roller mill and Raymond mill is mainly reflected in the design of the grinding roller.

The number of grinding rollers of Raymond mill is divided into 3 rollers, 4 rollers, 5 rollers and 6 rollers. It adopts a spring plum blossom frame assembly. The grinding rollers revolve around the central axis and rotate themselves at the same time. The scrapers are used to feed the materials into the grinding rollers. Between the grinding roller and the grinding ring, applied material is used to crush the materials efficiently.

The number of grinding rollers in the ring roller mill can be 36 pcs, which rotate around the main machine. Under the action of high-pressure spring and centrifugal force, the grinding rollers swing outward horizontally and press tightly on the grinding ring. The material is ground due to the crushing of the grinding rollers for purpose of powdering. Because of the participation of high-pressure springs, under the same power, the grinding roller pressure of ring roller mill is twice that of Raymond mill.

2. The applicable materials of ring roller mill and Raymond mill are different.

Raymond mill is mainly used in the building materials, mining, and metallurgical industries. The grinding fineness is between 80-400 mesh. Through technological improvements, the grinding fineness can reach 600 mesh. It is suitable for grinding materials with Mohs hardness below level 7 , the humidity cannot exceed 6%, non-flammable and explosive, such as limestone, gypsum, barite, talc, marble, kaolin, fluorite, etc.

The hardness of the materials that the ring roller mill can grind is higher than that of the Raymond mill. The hardness of the materials that can be grinded can reach Mohs hardness level 9.2, such as calcium carbonate, marble, dolomite, etc. It can grind 30-100 mesh coarse powder, and can also Grind to a fine powder of about 325-2500 mesh.

3. The production capacities of ring roller mill and Raymond mill are different.

Raymond is ground into fine powder, and the screening rate can reach 99%. The three-dimensional structure reduces the floor space. The number of rollers of Raymond mill is different, and the feed particle size is 15-30mm, and the production capacity is 1-90 tons per shift.
The number of grinding rings of different ring roller mills is different. There are 3 rings and 4 rings. The feed particle size is below 20mm. It can process 0.5-15 tons of materials per hour. The production capacity is slightly lower than that of Raymond mill.

4. How to choose between ring roller mill and Raymond mill

Through the comparison of the above three aspects, we know that although the appearance of the ring roller mill and the Raymond mill are not much different, their internal structure and material processing capacity are very different. So when we choose the equipment, we must according to raw materials to select the appropriate powder grinding mill machine.

For example, if the hardness of the ground material is relatively large, if it exceeds 7.2, you should choose a raymond mill; if the fineness of the ground material is relatively fine, if it exceeds 600 mesh, you should choose a ring roller mill; if the processing capacity is relatively large, you should choose a raymond grinding mill. People Also Frequently Asked For - FAQ

What is the difference between milling and crushing?

Crushing plant is to crush a variety of ores to different particle sizes according to the production demands. Milling equipment is to prepare various materials into all kinds of powder products as needed.

What are the parts of Raymond mill?

The Raymond mill is composed of the main frame, grinding roller, grinding ring, scraper blade, classifier, motor, ventilation device, analysis machine, blower, spring, belt, access door, etc.

How does roller mill work?

Roller mills are mills that use cylindrical rollers, either in opposing pairs or against flat plates, to crush or grind various materials, such as grain, ore, gravel, plastic, and others. Roller grain mills are an alternative to traditional millstone arrangements in gristmills.
