Rotary Kiln Structure

1.Rotary part: The main body that rotates during operation, allowing the bauxite to move inside the kiln for uniform heating and calcination.
2.Supporting part: Supports the entire weight of the rotary kiln and ensures its stable operation. It usually consists of several sets of support pedestals or rollers.
3.Transmission device: Transmits the power to make the rotary kiln rotate at a designed speed. It typically includes a motor, gearbox, and transmission components such as belts or chains.
4.Kiln head and kiln tail: The kiln head is the end where the material enters the kiln, and the kiln tail is the end where the processed material exits. They are equipped with seals to prevent gas leakage and ensure the normal operation of the kiln.
5.Combustion device: Provides the heat source for the calcination process, usually using fuels such as coal, gas, or oil. The combustion device is designed to ensure efficient combustion and heat transfer.

 

Rotary Kiln Working Principle:

The bauxite enters the kiln from the higher end (kiln tail) of the cylinder. Due to the inclination and slow rotation of the cylinder, the material both rolls in the circumferential direction and moves in the axial direction from the higher end to the lower end (kiln head). During this process, the high-temperature gas generated by the combustion of fuel in the kiln provides heat, and the bauxite is continuously heated and undergoes calcination reactions under high-temperature conditions. As the calcination temperature increases and the holding time prolongs, the chemical and physical properties of the bauxite change, increasing the aluminum content and improving the grade.
